i dunno

So daylight savings time ending is of the devil. Why do we not just keep it around all year long? The sun setting at 4:30pm is just too early for me. And a Paela waking up at 5:30 in the morning is not such a great idea either, in my book. I had innocently presumed she had adjusted by Thursday or Friday when she didn't wake up till 7am...but then yesterday and today proved me wrong. Perhaps jumping straight to her regular clock time for bed and nap wasn't the best approach...but is there a best approach?

The week was pretty straight forward, even if the routine was out of whack. Wayne and Paela enjoyed a visit to Drumlin Farm on Wednesday and story time. I had another doctor visit. Wayne got one of the two flu shots (for the coming baby's benefit). We celebrated cookie monster day by watching Cookie Monster sing "C is for Cookie" and dancing like crazy. Over and over. Paela loved it. And Cameron came to play a few times last week. Paela adores baby Cameron time. She wanted to try and help feed him too.

Friday night we decided we felt like going for a walk, but not in the pitch dark night. So we all drove to the mall to walk around. We didn't make it far, because Christmas decorations were up in the first department store we hit. And boy was Paela enthralled by the lights and moving things. Look Momma, red! Blue! Purple! She named all the colors of the lights, and as many of the animals (penguins and sheep and such) as she could. Reindeer, in case you didn't know, are moose. We expect she'll like it when the time comes to decorate our own house.

And another night we went to Jordan's Furniture store. Apparently it is a sensation here in the Boston area. Not only was there a restaurant attached to the store, but ride-on cars to push your kids in, an ice cream parlor, an IMAX theater, a water show with colored lights akin to something straight from Vegas, a sweets shop with jelly bean columns and chairs and tables, and a trapeze school. What do all these things do to convince you to buy furniture? I have no idea. [And I thought IKEA was pointlessly hyper-postmodern.] But Paela liked the water show and the ride-on car.

The rest of the week Wayne and I spent tackling our to-do list -- winterizing windows, sealing some leaks in the door frame, setting up appointments and organizing things, etc, etc. Hopefully we'll continue to make good headway on the things before baby number two decides to make an appearance.
