guess who loves the BEACH!

catching a drink from the elephantWe found Paela a bigger sandbox to play in Saturday -- in Santa Cruz. She loved the beach! Loved, loved, loved it.

She got a huge smile when we plopped her in the sand, sand started filling her bucket handful by handful. She tasted a little, but it wasn't worth tasting more than that. She tried to stand up and walk, which was very tricky but she managed.

Then we took her to the water's edge. Oh boy, she giggled when the water came up to lick her feet. She didn't stop smiling the whole time we splashed in the water. We took turns holding her hands (the current was too strong to let her and her new walking skills walk much by herself...) and running towards the water when the wave receded and away from it when the wave was coming towards us.

We took a break to play in the sand and she was covered in sand from head to toe. We played in the water some more, and the sand some more, until it was time for naps and we headed home again.

All this, and we left both the camera and the camcorder at home [not to mention the swim diapers as well!]. So we had to just record the fun times in our own little memories as best we could. We'll have to take her back again soon, she loved it so. Just like her daddy.

The rest of the week was busy, with the usual work and school and some visiting/home teaching thrown in the mix. Thursday was a book club night, and Karl and Thomas were kind enough to come watch Paela so I could go to the book club. I think it was later that evening when we got the virtual robot talking to the wiimote and we successfully saw the led light movement "tell" the bot where to move on the screen. Progress on Wayne's thesis project.

A month to go on the thesis, and a couple of weeks to go before a certain little one's birthday. Maybe she can play in a sandbox for her birthday.... Good times.
