summer days are good for moving

just_woke_upWell we got approved for the apartment we applied for. Part of me wonders if this is a good choice, to move when we could probably stay here for about the same in rent. The other part sees the gas prices rising to 4.70 here in CA and thinks living closer to school/work is a very good idea.

We survived another week of me being at work full-time+. It is a shame (and very draining) that for the first time outside of final project week in college I have been busy enough to have to work into the night. I cherish the time I have with Paela in the mornings before I have to start working and in the evening before she goes to bed (at 6 or 6:30 nowadays, because she wakes up with the sun...where did this early-to-bed and early-to-rise girl come from??). We "release" the project tomorrow to real users, so hopefully I will be less busy after that. Until bug reports start coming in. And we start the next project. This new team I've been on since January is definitely faster paced than the last team.

Wayne and Paela have been keeping busy. A little bit of swimming, though it hasn't been terribly hot this week. A little bit of going for walks; Wayne has been helping her walk with holding just one of his fingers instead of two. A little bit of nap-time (she's sleeping less and less during the day now...more and more playing in the crib instead of sleeping). Lots of little snacks of finger foods -- bell peppers and peas and mangos and rolls and oatmeal and applesauce today, for example. And lots of giggles at the funny games daddy plays. She loves when Wayne tries to "eat" her, or wiggles his fingers saying "I'm gonna get you!" She also giggles when he throws her in the air and helps her "run" down the hallway or over the grass. She could play on the grass for hours. She also loves watching water -- whether it's the kitchen faucet or the bathtub or the fountain or a water bottle or her sippy cup. Yay for water, apparently.

We're still working eon getting Wayne enough time to work on his thsis. And looking forward to my family coming for a visit this weekend. Not related, but it seemed silly to make that two paragraphs.

Anyone know where to find netting? We're trying to come up with a way to kitty-proof our balcony when we move so Star can be "outside" without being outside.
