Six weeks anything like two years?

At six weeks, Paela is a textbook baby and has stopped sleeping and has increased fussing [being more alert has its benefits too -- more smiles for us to show off her cuteness and play time]. We have resorted to sleeping with the baby, until she falls into deep sleep during her scheduled evening long sleeps. Then we can stick her in a papasan and let her sleep for 6 hours to recoop for the day.

For example, yesterday, she slept fitfully all day long, getting at best 20 minute naps [plus an hour and a half in the moby] and then she crashed at night and slept for 7 hours straight. But, this is the end of the dark tunnel, we move towards the light now.

It was Tuesday evening that Rebecca realized she needed to get out of the house more, which is why we instituted our walk-a-day-with-the-baby program. It helps Paela to get some rest, even if it isn't deep sleep and helps Rebecca get some fresh air and a temporary escape from home --other than running errands which only lulls you into thinking you've escaped.

But the second half of the week was a nice break with the holiday festivities. Karl and Angela came over Wednesday evening to play games with us before they left to the Sacramento area. We took care of making rolls for Thursday. Thursday morning, we tossed the turkey in, made homemade stuffing and homemade everything else. The Rocks came over for Thanksgiving dinner and then played games until their son's bedtime. Then we kicked around and relaxed the rest of the day -- and put up the Christmas decorations! We had hoped that Paela would be willing to stage some pictures of "helping put up the tree," but those didn't turn out so well. Friday and Saturday were just as slow: taking long walks with the baby and exploring the world around us that we didn't know about -- like the service station at the gas pump across the street we hadn't seen before.

Now it's time to get back to real life.
