Description

This is Grandma Harris's stuffing recipe, which we enjoy every year we have it. Now we can make it ourselves!

Ingredients

  • 3⁄4 lb breakfast sausage
  • 1 c chopped celery
  • 1 c chopped onions
  • 1⁄2 pk stoffer stuffing mix
  • 1 c milk
  • 1 tsp sage
  • 1⁄3 c butter
  • 6 sli sourdough bread
  • 1⁄2 c shredded turkey
  • 1⁄2 c turkey juices

Instructions

Cube the sourdough bread and dry them out overnight or by putting them in the oven at a low temperature. Brown the breakfast sausage (like you would ground hamburger) into small pieces and toss in the chopped onions in a skillet. When the sausage and onions are almost done, toss in the chopped celery and leave on medium heat 2-3 minutes. Take off heat and drain grease. Add stuffing mix (and stuffing seasoning, if it's separate). Add bread crumbs. Return stove to medium heat. Mix in the turkey drippings and butter; stir. Add milk until stuffing is to desired moistness. Toss in sage and shredded turkey. Remove from heat and serve.
