The Polydactylys will Take Over the World

Because this week wasn't jam-packed with events on our calender, our first in a while, we don't actually remember much about what we did. Sure, there was a Costco item per item cost analysis that we did one evening. And I think there was lots of time spent trying to figure out if there is any software fix for the desktop upgrades. But we only remember the past two days in detail.

Friday evening was the official unveiling for next year's Zero1 festival. We went out to dinner with a handful of my colleagues before the unveiling and then listened to a short intro from the Mayor, etc. The interactive display is entitled Abundance by Camille Utterback. I had chatted lots with Camille last semester, but I'm not sure she remembers me. Abundance runs nightly at the City Hall from Sept. 28 - Oct. 6 starting at 8pm, and from 10pm on Saturdays. While the piece fits San Jose well, on the unveiling night it wasn't as clear as it should have been. This is important to note because the piece Rebecca and I saw Friday was one of her older pieces -- the current piece commissioned for this showing was having last minute technical difficulties. Which means, if you go the rest of the week, it should be really good.

Right after they turned on the piece, it began to "heavily mist." Not exactly rain, but it had the same effect and people generally cleared out. It was a rough night for Camille.

Saturday morning we were off at 8 am to go look at some more cheap craigslist furniture. While I think we're completely insane for getting more furniture in this apartment, the idea behind investing in specific furniture is to allow us to condense space and organize better. So we picked up a very cheap real wood dresser and got a cat tower tossed in for free, as well as free delivery. The girls we bought it from were really nice and had nothing to do on a Saturday morning, so they willingly delivered the stuff to our apartment. That was good because getting someone with a truck coordinated to help is always a hassle for us.

Saturday afternoon, we organized closets and Rebecca went to her baby shower and the General Relief Society broadcast. I cleaned, did laundry and was too lazy.
