drip drip drop, little autumn shower!

Rain, glorious rain! It's been many months since the last time we can remember it raining here; it didn't even rain here during the "rainy season," so, much longer than either of us has gone without a rainy day before. And since we actually like rain, we were celebrating yesterday as it dripped all day long.

Of course, this means the used crib we are buying off craigslist wasn't delivered yesterday as planned; perhaps this coming weekend. The people we're buying the crib from are delivering it for us, since we weren't sure it'd fit in our car and they have a truck. And they were worried on our behalf about the solid hardwood getting wet while being moved to/from the truck...so we wait. That's okay. We don't expect this little one coming early, and even if she does, we have a box and some blankets, right?

It's interesting searching craigslist for kids' stuff in this area. It is generally expensive stuff used for one or two kids. The less expensive stuff people sell for half price; the more expensive stuff sometimes goes for a quarter of the price! (so the difference between buying expensive used stuff isn't much more than buying cheaper used stuff) That is certainly not what we would have found in Utah...things there are used for more kids, for sure. People are also a little surprised this is the first "purchase" we'll have made for the little one. But why should we buy a lot of stuff we don't even know will be useful yet? We aren't made of storage space here, after all.

Time is ticking, I suppose. This is what they tell me at least, since perfect strangers stop to make comments about me being pregnant. Other preparations this week included getting the desktop stabilized again (how is it possible switching the RAM in different slots is all we needed to keep it from crashing?). We also went to see a different crib (not the one we're getting) Wednesday. Oh, Wednesday. What a day.

Wednesday we had all our social invites for the week in one shot. We turned down more plans than we actually accepted, so it was a fun day. We ended up rushing from seeing the crib to picking up something for dinner at Chris and Alyssa's for Talk Like a Pirate day to dinner to Karl and Angela's for computer testing.

Missing the artist dinner Wednesday wasn't so bad...we did catch the lecture by Eddo Stern Thursday evening and participated in a cook-off Friday with a bunch of artists. I enjoyed the previous two artist lectures more than this one, to tell the truth. Perhaps because I'm not into video games? Even still, video games in which the participants inflict pain upon one another sounds a little disturbing, you have to admit. That kind of social art/interaction would never be approved for psychology research, but apparently it's free game for art projects. Tongue out [This helps me to know how I would fit in with his project, were it approved for zero1 next year. -Wayne]

Yesterday was an errand day, running here and there and everywhere. Today is my last Sunday "babysitting" instead of teaching. Well, technically this is the real program so I'm babysitting during Sacrament and teaching as well during Primary. It should be exciting....
