a name

What with family in town and tons of snow, we've felt pretty busy at our house. Last Sunday, with my dad and Wayne's parents and Victor, Camilla, and Cameron, Wayne gave Aderyn a name and a priesthood blessing. Now she's official.

It snowed enough that they canceled Church again for the second time in three weeks. We've gotten quite a lot of cold and a lot of snow. Brrr. Paela doesn't object to putting her coat and mittens on anymore before we go outside -- she gets it and agrees with our reasons for putting them on her. She also "goes to sleep" by snuggling into Wayne's chest whenever he carries her so she can stay even warmer.

The cold has had other effects as well. We failed to shut off the outside water line, and there is, apparently, a slow drip. Over the past month, it's made one gigantic icicle. Paela will eat the smaller ones, but stands no chance at the giant one.

Because of the snow, we've stuck pretty close to home the last couple of weeks. Fortunately, Paela doesn't feel too cooped up, since she has new toys to play with. How she loves her new blocks and Little People and puzzles. She also loved having people over to visit. Now whenever we hear anyone at the door Paela looks at me and asks if it is Tutu, or Grandpa, or Uncle Victor.

And Aderyn is settling into a fairly routine daily schedule. She is growing well and eating well and spitting up lots. She even rolled over a couple of times, though Wayne insists it was accidental. Aderyn and Paela seem to enjoy each other pretty well so far still. Paela likes to be chased by Aderyn (when her daddy is helping, of course). And Aderyn does her newborn best to pay attention to what Paela is telling her.

We made a mistake. We responded to a freecycle ad (we heart freecycle) for two guinea pigs. Wayne was convinced he could take care of them and would enjoy having them around. He now admits that he was wrong. So we're looking for a good home for two guinea pigs. If only we could have gotten two parakeets instead....

Our computer monitor stopped working. It sits and blinks on and off. We only bought it a year and a half ago, so we will find out tomorrow if the company offers any good customer service. Let this be a warning to everyone buying LCD technology.

We are glad that the days are getting longer and brighter. Now if only they could get warmer now that Winter Solstice has passed too....
