The week was pretty quiet this time around. We made a cake, spent some time organizing the basement storage better, tried to learn about u-pick places in the area, enjoyed the cooler (though wet) weather, and avoided a funeral.

The cake was just because.

The basement storage is the last of the "moving" tasks we have and it's mostly taken care of now. Things are better organized and we'll be able to find and get at everything we need. All that's left in the basement now is to make some racks for the paintings just in case the basement ever floods so the paintings won't be on the ground. We did learn about a pretty cool site, connected to craigslist, called craiglook that allows us to search by radius instead of just the whole of Boston. It sure makes it easier to look for what you're interested in (and willing to actually drive to!). It's nice to clean out some of the things in the basement we don't actually need or want around while we're at it -- between craigslist and freecycle we have gotten rid of several things that don't have to go in the dump now.

We tried to find some u-pick places in the area. We may have found one with the right price, but we still need to check and be sure that costco doesn't beat them pricewise before we invest. Otherwise we'll plan on heading out there this week and hopefully some canning will be in our immediate future. We do lament not getting on the ball earlier since we appear to have entirely missed strawberry season. So sad.

We've had quite the rainy days the last couple of days. With it has come the promise of cooler weather. We look forward to fall weather soon...hopefully the cool weather doesn't just toy with us, though at least it's nice to not have every day be quite so hot and sticky.

Our Saturday plans, though grand in nature, had to be revised when we learned a Massachusetts senator's funeral was planned for Saturday. Camilla and Victor let us know the implications this would have on traffic in downtown Boston, so we stayed well clear of the area. No one wants to be stuck in traffic all afternoon. Except, I guess, all those funeral-goers.

And that, my friends, was our week. There was probably a doctor visit, a petting zoo trip and some library visits (who loves story time?) thrown in the mix just to keep things lively, but that's the week.
