anti-superbowl parties and kissing cousins

Wayne's been getting back into the swing of the school year. He's had classes and meeting and readings, just like the good ole days. He'll have to figure out what to do about school when we move to Boston. In the meantime he became an international artist with this group show in Berlin.

Paela got to try a free "gym" class at a local place. It was free. It was 45 minutes long. She took 40 minutes to warm up to the idea. But hey, she had five minutes of fun with balls and bubbles, and 40 minutes of watching the instructor try to excite her and the other kiddies. We're trying a "toddler gym" out that's closer to home, also for free. Other than that, she has enjoyed the library, bubbles, books (tons of books), and running around with a runny nose meowing at the kitty.

Today Karl and Angela invited us over for an anti-superbowl evening. Lots of yummy snacks, games while the cousins played together, and, most importantly, no football. Yay. Our kind of superbowl experience. Hehehe. Thomas gave Paela a hug and a kiss good-bye at the end of the evening. They definitely have fun playing together.

I admit we had some amount of warning that today was the "big game" because at the grocery store yesterday they had enough balloons to choke a camel. And some were strangely blue or something football-y instead of the red Valentine's heart balloons. Paela, for her part, loved grocery shopping yesterday, and pointed to every balloon in sight ["ball!" --Paela]. Even better was when mom actually let her hold one for a bit in the checkout line. What a lucky girl.
