an earful

bubbles 004It was quite a busy week last week, in case it isn't obvious from our late update. What with (another) trip to Boston with flight details being settled just the day before, and our friends Jon and Faith coming down for a visit.

I headed off to Boston last week on Wednesday, leaving Wayne and Paela to their own devices. The trip went well; I managed to navigate "Boston" by sticking to the highways until I was out of the city proper. (I only got a teeny bit lost on the way back to the airport, in trying to exit early to find a gas station...) I had the opportunity to hang out with an old college friend and his wife, staying up later than I had planned. And I chatted with some folks at another company the next day. They do some interesting work from the sounds of it, and it would be fun to be involved in it.

The flight home again was actually quite miserable. I guess I must have had the start of a cold, or allergy congestion, or something, because I had trouble getting my ears to pop on all the legs of my flights there and back again. But the very last leg I failed. My ear just wouldn't pop. By the time we landed, I was pretty miserable, and could barely hear to talk to Wayne. It sounded like I was half underwater. We read a bit online, and decided I must have extra fluid in my ears. So after taking nyquil and later Sudafed and ibuprofen, we crossed our fingers and slept. It was a bit better in the morning, especially after a hot shower, but got worse again as the day wore on. A week later it is a lot better, but still kind of uncomfy by the end of each day. I'm tired of flying.

But, hey, at least Paela isn't sick this week, right? Knock on wood.

Despite the ear oddities, we were extra excited to see Jon and Faith this weekend. They moved a lot closer to us again (7 hour drive) and took advantage of that to come for a visit. We played lots of games, had giggles with Paela, and took them to some of our favorite haunts. Mostly we just had a good time relaxing together. It was an excellent weekend.

Boston

I'm a little behind on your blog/life, but if moving to Boston is an option, i say DO IT!!  Yay for friends on the east coast!  You can come visit me in NYC.  And (if I"m invited) I will come visit you in Boston, which is a very lovely city after all.
