ATC finishing touches and etc

rebecca's picture

Mostly the week was filled with ATC prep work. There were a few other things throughout the week, but mostly it was last minute touches and setting up the show.

We got the shocking function added in early in the week, and Wayne made sure we bought/rented the equipment we didn't have already (projecter, thing to put the projecter on, thing to put over cables so no one trips, etc). Friday and Saturday were spent setting up in the gallery. It was the first time all the pieces were together at the same time, so of course it took more work than we expected. The good news is, even though we hit quite a few snags, we solved them all relatively quickly.

It's almost ready to go...one last big push tomorrow morning and the project should be ready to go. Just in time for the first gallery hours at 11am. The reception will be this coming Tuesday evening, and we just realized a few minutes ago we haven't even considered what to serve for refreshments. Pesky little details. (What would you eat if you went to play video games with a bunch of friends?) His big presentation will be Wednesday afternoon. Wish him luck!

One of the few smiles.Paela had a horrible cold, or possibly a mild case of croup starting Sunday evening. We ended up calling the urgent care folks around 10pm when Paela woke up with a wretched barking cough and sounded like she was almost choking. She had a mild fever as well, which is actually unusual for her colds. The doctor we spoke with suggested we could care for her at home unless it got much worse, which we were glad of. However, the suggestion was that we sleep in the same room so we could hear next time she woke with the cough and make sure she could still breathe. Paela did not do well when we tried to have her sleep between us [neither did we]. She seemed so confused about why we wanted her to play in the night, unable to believe we really wanted her to go back to sleep, or would whack us and climb all over us trying to get comfortable. So we dragged blankets and pillows into her room and slept on the floor. We were all exhausted Monday. Thankfully Karl and Angela let us borrow their humidifier and baby monitor so we could all sleep a little better the rest of the week. The cough didn't make a repeat appearance and the fever disappeared by Tuesday, though she had a runny nose for the rest of the week.

We managed to make it to the ward's Halloween party Saturday evening for a bit. Our little monkey enjoyed the festivities...especially when she won a pink balloon (or as Paela described it: "ball?")! We took a quick break Friday afternoon to pick up Wayne's cell from some kid who found it in the park we frequent while he was running cross country. Yay for good samaritans! I took another short break from ATC work Thursday evening for book club; we discussed Dracula...oooh, spooky....

Up tomorrow: more ATC stuff. A little sewing, a little printing, final tests, and a presentation to practice.
