Labor day was spent at home preparing a few overarching presentations discussing my work in 10 minutes or less. Granted, I should have prepared better by timing myself with the content I had because when I presented, I only got through half my presentation -- just one quarter of my graduate studies work -- before the time was up. My professor had requested we discuss our "past" work, but I hadn't realized I needed to trim back so much.

Unrelated to my shortcomings, Paela has begun to point at things she would like to examine closer. One afternoon on our way home to the lightrail station, she slowed me down dramatically by pointing at every interesting tree or sign or house. Now she points at pictures in books and we tell her what she's pointing at. Paela also ordered her first meal from a restaurant. We went to a breakfast place and she got a pancake with a strawberry and banana smile on it.

Craigslist has been a really great tool for us lately, saving us hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars. This week, in our craigslist adventures, a family unloaded 30+ pieces of barely worn toddler clothes for $5. Some of the items still had tags on them. And we picked up a few new toys and birthday presents for Paela as well.

Unfortunately, we didn't make it to the temple Friday evening. Paela has been having a couple of rough days lately, unwilling to be happy without clinging to mom or dad. We're going to try again for sometime this week, but only if our darling daughter doesn't drown in deepest sorrows. It's probably because she's got two teeth coming in at the same time.
