the out-of-doors

paela on wayne's backNow that Wayne is done with school, he is jumping head-first into quite a few projects. Some of his projects are ones involving coding, so I've been able to help off and on during my days off work. It's fun to have him around, and Paela and I try not to distract him too much from working.

We're trying to find a balance between work and play so we all enjoy the time we have with all three of us. Wayne was coaxed into going for a walk with us, but we also did some coding while Paela played other times. The next couple of weeks will be nice for us to all hang out a little more often, as I still am on maternity leave Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next two weeks and Wayne doesn't have school to take off for.

We were sick for a good chunk of the week, but are almost all better now. Paela hardly has any runny nose, and Wayne is over the worst part of the cold. Yay for family togetherness and sharing, eh?

Karl and Angela and Thomas invited us to go camping Friday night, so we took off right after I got done with work to pack the car. Paela didn't enjoy the ride very much (to or from), and we aren't sure if she was just tired or didn't like the twists and turns of the road. But she loved the campground and the great out-of-doors and slept well even without her crib. We were worried she might get too cold, so we didn't sleep very well, but she slept and slept until the sun rose. Too bad she could see the sunrise a little earlier than when she is in her room at home!

Paela has been sleeping a little better this week. We figured out she's finally old enough that it distracts her more for us to go in and out of her room trying to "help" her in the night (find her pacifier or pat her back) than it does for us to check on her really quickly and then leave her to figure things out herself: 44 minutes one night, and 29 minutes another. It's not as nice as the couple of minutes it used to take her to fall asleep after we would give her a little water or a pacifier, but it's better than the two hours with us trying to help her calm down....
