Moving in and getting ready

We made it safely to Utah, and with some good help Wednesday we got our stuff all moved in. Thursday we got halfway unpacked, and we finished up most of the rest of the unpacking lazily on Saturday. Unpacking and settling in has gone quicker and quicker each time we move. Maybe we should move more often and see if we can get it all done in one day. Hehehe. Or maybe we should just stay put for a year already. :)

Friday was errand day: we got insurance set for the next little while, got our car inspected and registered again, met with my new thesis advisor, bought books, learned about Wayne's scholarship, and made a Target/Wal-mart/grocery run for a few essentials. Wal-mart was out of a lot of things, since all the students were back in town all at once, but for the most part we got all our errands taken care of.

I guess I have a new thesis advisor now. I hope this one will work out better. :) I don't know if I mentioned this before or not, but my previous advisor (after having her second baby...I think this had something to do with her decision) told me she didn't have time to be my advisor and that I would need to find someone else to work with. Lame. But the CS department just hired a new Natural Language Processing professor, who has worked in dialogue (my emphasis) specifically, so it should be a better match anyway. I'll also be his teaching assistant and research assistant this semester.

Thursday we went to see a movie as a break (yay for the dollar theater!!!), Cinderella Man, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I didn't think by the title or by the boxing that I would like it, but I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy it so much. Family promotion. Self reliance. Determination. It was fun. Well worth the price we paid. :)

Saturday we also went to a swimming pool which had a really fun slide too. The kind of slide you find at water amusement parks. We had a really good time until the lightning made them close the pool, but then, we enjoyed seeing the lightning and hearing thunder again too (Seattle doesn't get good thunderstorms) [Lots of rain, but very little lightning]. And in the evening, we played a game with our new landlords. That's fun that we can start to be friends with our landlord instead of just handing them money once a month. :)[We even tried to make some new game friends at church today, but forgot to actually set a DATE to have them come over. -Wayne]

We look forward to school starting tomorrow. Just one more year! I think I'm more excited to be done now than I ever was to finish my Bachelor's. Good thing I didn't sign up for a PhD program (yet). And Wayne will also be working on finishing up preparations for his installation project in the next couple of weeks. Hope you all have a fun week!

Loves,
Becca and Wayne
