Commoditizing our future by Charlie Stone

In doing some research, I came across a wonderful essay by Charlie Stone on the consumer computer trade and the miniturization of the economy in this trade. Ultimately, there are reasons we don't have the devices we want, and those reasons involve the support of what Charlie refers to as a "30-year binge" at the expense of the consumer. I hate radios

I always have hated radio stations. I can't stand TV either. Both threaten me by pushing their horrible material on me while harassing me with neverending advertising and consumerism, polluting my mind. I've always been a fan of searching out new music and never had enough money to buy the cds I wanted. Worse yet, my musical tastes have always been so obscure that I can never carry on a conversation about what bands are near and dear to my heart because no one I know has heard of them.  read more »

MIT research?

Among a fringe community of paranoids, aluminum helmets serve as theprotective measure of choice against invasive radio signals. Weinvestigate the efficacy of three aluminum helmet designs on a samplegroup of four individuals. Using a $250,000 network analyser, we find that although on average allhelmets attenuate invasive radio frequencies in either directions(either emanating from an outside source, or emanating from thecranium of the subject), certain frequencies are in fact greatlyamplified.  read more »

I just found THE most amazing program, brought to you by the makers of Firefox.

Sure, firefox replaced Internet Explorer for me pretty quickly. It was a much better designed program with better security features. But the developers at Mozilla are at it again and they just release a SUPER-BETA new browser called Flock!.
