We traveled to Michigan this year for the holidays. While we weren't anticipating having an extended stay, we spent two weeks playing with family. We tried to get out of the house and do activities which would entertain the kids and thankfully the weather wasn't too restrictive. Despite the foot and a half of snow we got the first day, Paela didn't enjoy playing in the wet, cold snow enough to warrant finding a real sledding hill. But the snow cleared up right after Christmas and we were able to see the Hands On Museum, a petting farm and a few other things.

Christmas in Michigan 2008
We traveled to Michigan this year for the holidays. While we weren't anticipating having an extended stay, we spent two weeks playing with family. We tried to get out of the house and do activities which would entertain the kids and thankfully the weather wasn't too restrictive. Despite the foot and a half of snow we got the first day, Paela didn't enjoy playing in the wet, cold snow enough to warrant finding a real sledding hill. But the snow cleared up right after Christmas and we were able to see the Hands On Museum, a petting farm and a few other things.

A cat to return to
Travelling with Paela can sometimes be easy and sometimes be an experiment on boundaries of social space. While we are able to arrange ourselves to a position in which she won't kick anyone sitting next to us on the plane, trying to restrain her from offering half-eaten crackers to her neighbor is a bit more of a challenge. read more »

roses are red
We started the week off by sending me to Boston again, but luckily this time it wasn't the fall so I'm not in violation of any Veggie Tales songs. This was an interview with another company, for a position doing more natural language processing kinds of work, which would be cool. I liked the people I met a lot. Hopefully we'll hear something soon, and in the meantime we're back to normal.
I enjoyed seeing Wayne's sister, Camilla, and Victor again. They took me to a yummy sandwich place and an ice cream place and showed off Cambridge. So much fun.
Wayne and Paela had a good time playing in bookstores; she does love her bookstores. Though unfortunately she developed a fever the day I left and was fussy most of the time I was gone. At least the bookstores kept her content. read more »

an earful
It was quite a busy week last week, in case it isn't obvious from our late update. What with (another) trip to Boston with flight details being settled just the day before, and our friends Jon and Faith coming down for a visit.

Paela's bubble adventures
Paela plays with bubbles. It's our homemade recipe so they don't pop as easily.

What year is it?
We reorganized our DVD collection into one case which condenses things down to about 1/6th the space. We went to the park a few days, but mostly it rained this week. It is difficult to go down a slide when it is wet and had a big puddle at the bottom. We tried to find locations in our area which have indoor play spaces and were horrified to learn that this is the primary reason parents get sucked into taking their children (and feeding them) at McDonald's. Paela chose to be awake from 8am to 8pm a few times this week, but has returned to her normal schedule of 7-7 [mostly due to us encouraging her to...otherwise Sunday naps before Church would be nearly impossible because she wouldn't be tired yet]. read more »
