Yes, both Rebecca and I follow much of Chomsky's work, however we come away from democratization of media with two different paradigms. I, for myself, am much more cynical and question where anonymous authorship comes from. Rebecca believes more than I do in the honesty of the system. For our sakes, I hope she is right.

We discussed this about the recent meme (shouldn't there be a word for internet memes like "webmeme"?) from ebay with the lady who sold pokemon cards to a very receptive audience [which you posted on your site]. I have to question the authorship of this violatile marketing plot. How do we know that this was a real person actively using the democratized media effectively, or it wasn't a carefully planned entrance into a lucrative economic enterprise by a crafty entrepreneur? If it was real, I can guarantee that in a short period of time, you will find many more of these "humor experience sells" -- which you can already find all over ebay -- being posted by hidden dealers.
