who is mario?

Paela graduated to a big kid bed this week. She has been struggling for weeks now with her toddler bed being too small for her body (as well as all the stuffed animals and additional things she takes with her to bed). So we promised her a big kid (twin size) bed and we got her one. At least, a mattress. We're still working on the rest of the bed.

So on Friday night, we visited our local Wal-Mart (don't ask me why) to pick up a set of sheets. We walked up and down the aisles asking Paela which sheets she liked. She didn't want princess sheets. She didn't want sheets that matched Mom and Dad's bed. She wanted Mario Kart sheets. Of course, this would make sense for a kid who loves her Nintendo, except Paela has no idea who Mario is. All the way home, she asked who Mario and Luigi were. I'm assuming she vehemently selected these particular sheets for their solid primary colors and vivid cartoon images.

For weeks now, our cat has been acting a little strange. This is probably TMI, but she drinks three times as much water and urinates with an increased frequency. After investigating it some online, we decided it might be serious enough to visit a Vet.  The Vet took blood samples and requested that we get a urine sample. The blood sample showed elevated blood sugar, but the Vet wouldn't be able to confirm Diabetes until they test a urine sample. Getting a sample from our cat proved to be challenging. She has learned to hold litter breaks for a long period of time, thanks to our road trips. Eventually she cracked this morning at 6am and now we have cat urine in our fridge. For the next several days. So, our cat might have diabetes and we might not have the capability to take care of that kind of long term investment. Our time in Boston has been full of surprises.

We tried to go swimming one day with Camilla and Victor, but due to elevated security (thanks to post-Bin Laden feared retalliation), we couldn't get them on base. Later in the week we brought out the kiddie pool, and both the girls had fun with that.

Oh, and I had a wisdom tooth ripped out of my skull. On purpose, for sure, but it still hurt. Having a tooth smashed, broken and torn from your head makes you realize how mortal you are. Even post surgery, I managed to: re-mulch the church building gardens, take care of two daughters all week, gallery sit for Axiom, Doctor's appointment for myself and Aderyn, and more!

Hey, it was only one tooth, right?
