birthday time

For a second I thought it was a pretty calm week. And it was. But it was also birthday week, so at least there's a little bit of newsworthy material.

Wayne had a birthday. We celebrated a bit early with Camilla and Victor coming over Sunday evening to hang out. But I made Wayne wait until Tuesday to carry on with presents and cake and such. I'm such a stickler that way, I guess.

Paela did an excellent job keeping the surprises secret. She helped me choose wrapping paper and wrap presents, and when Wayne tried to ask what he was getting for his birthday, she said "presents" and when he asked what was in the presents, she said "surprises." She wanted to get him something clown red for his birthday, or maybe it was a clown which was red. We're not sure which.

On Tuesday, Paela had a grand time helping to open presents and blow out candles. No waiting around between presents like she did for her own birthday and Christmas last year. I'm anxious to see if she will go slow, wanting to pause and play with each thing, before moving on to another present come her own birthday in October.

Yesterday we pretended our big bean bag couch was a pond, because Paela wanted to go to the pond again but did not want to go upstairs or get shoes or get in the car. Later on, she was sad to not go to the real pond, but we all had fun jumping in the "water" until naptime.

Primary was a handful again today at Church. How can three seven-year old kids be such a challenge? At least there are only three of them.

Otherwise not much out of the ordinary happened. Park visits, spray parks, feeding goats at the neighborhood farm, library, pet stores, and the like. Like I said, pretty calm.
